Due to cultural ties, Turkey has close cooperation with many countries of the world. Turkey has signed health agreements with various countries to prepare the legal ground for the above-mentioned joint activities. In 2002, Turkey had 39 agreements on health cooperation with 33 countries. Currently, Turkey has 87 agreements on cooperation in the field of health with 53 countries around the world.
These agreements reflect the exchange of medical personnel and specialists, the exchange of information and experience in all health matters, the establishment of direct contacts between scientific institutions, and the support of the private sector..
The Ministry of Health of Turkey provides short-term and long-term seminars for staff (doctors, nurses, medical personnel, technicians, etc.) in many countries in the framework of agreements on cooperation in the field of health and medicine. These seminars are held in the central departments of the Ministry and in educational and research hospitals of the Ministry of Health of Turkey. After these training courses, foreign medical personnel provide their acquired skills and experience to their people. The above-mentioned personnel, on their return to their countries, thus provides more successful and productive services.
Within the framework of the Cooperation Agreements with the Ministries of Health of Afghanistan, Albania, Azerbaijan, TRNC, Sudan and Yemen, patients who can not receive treatment in their countries are treated in Turkiye free of charge, within a certain contingent. In addition, in cases established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkiye, treatment is provided to certain foreign patients.
